A Letter to our Community

Update: Please click here to view our Equity and Inclusion Webinar from June 10, 2020.

Dear Providence Day Community:

As we reach out to you today, it is with the knowledge that many in our community and nation are hurting deeply. While dealing with a global pandemic that affects everyone in varied and multiple ways, our country has been further thrust into turmoil following the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, among others. These past few months have shone a spotlight on inequities in our society that hit marginalized communities particularly hard.

As a school with a mission of social responsibility and a commitment to values of equity, inclusion, and belonging, we cannot stand idly by. We must condemn racism and oppression wherever we see it. Education is key in creating the future we hope to see in our world.

Our PD classrooms serve as gathering places for students of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, and identities. Inclusivity continues to be the most important ingredient in our “special sauce”  that makes our Charger community what it is. Knowing each other matters; celebrating each other matters; and working together matters. Your PD faculty, staff, and administration value every member of our community, and we will continue to do our part in making the world a better place.

This will not be an easy journey, and we know we have much to do. We are grateful to each of you for joining us in this commitment to a just and equitable world.

Signed:

Dr. Glyn Cowlishaw and the Providence Day School leadership team
